Apply a template In PowerPoint, click File, and then click New. Do one of the following: Type a key word or phrase into the Search for online templates and themes field, and press Enter. Create a custom template in Pages on Mac. If you create a document that you want to use again as a model for other documents, you can save it as a template.Creating your own template can be as simple as adding your company logo to an existing template, or you can design a completely new template. A template sets the background and design/style or a presentation (such as the font, color schemes, etc.). Microsoft PowerPoint includes the New Presentation dialog box which provides access to many templates types. You can use the templates to design your slides and presentations.
It is true that both pictures and words are important, and they both play complementary roles. If you had to choose just one of them, then you could use pictures because the presenter can always use words to explain what the picture represents. Google draw architecture. Presentations, by their very nature, are meant to be visual in nature. Best private browser. Text and speaking are important too, but you can be more effectively heard and remembered if your content includes pictures.
Adding pictures to your PowerPoint 2016 for Mac slide is a great way to add some visual detail. Essentially, depending upon the layout of your slide, there are two ways to insert a picture on your slide in PowerPoint:
- You use a layout that includes a Content or Picture placeholder.
- You insert a picture within a slide irrespective of its layout.
- Select a template Select File New. Under New, you can navigate to a personal or workgroup template, Search for a template, or choose a featured template or theme from the gallery.
- Media Kit Template for PowerPoint (Mac or Windows) quantity. Category: For Bloggers Tags: For Bloggers, Media Kit, PowerPoint, Template.
Choose the option that works best for you. We cover both options in the following steps:
- Launch PowerPoint and open a new presentation. This presentation contains a new slide. Change the layout of this slide to Title and Content by selecting the Home tab | Layout | Title and Content option. This results in the slide layout you see in Figure 1.
- Notice that this layout has a Content placeholder that lets you add bulleted text or any of the 6 different content types in the slide. These 6 content types are indicated by the 6 buttons located right in the center of the Content placeholder (see Figure 1). Click on the Picture from File button in the Content placeholder, shown highlighted in red within Figure 1.
Figure 1: Picture from File button within Content placeholder- Alternatively, if you want to add a picture on an existing slide that has no Content placeholder, you can select the Insert tab of the Ribbon, and click the Pictures button to open a drop-down menu shown in Figure 2. Within this menu, select the Picture from File option (refer to Figure 2 again).
Figure 2: Picture from File option within the Insert tab- Either way, you will summon the Choose a Picture dialog box. Navigate to the folder where your pictures are located. You will see the icons or thumbnails of the pictures as shown in Figure 3. Alternatively you may just see a textual listing. Select the picture you need, and click on the Insert button highlighted in red within Figure 3.
Figure 3: Choose a Picture dialog box- As soon as you click the Insert button, you will see the selected picture placed on your PowerPoint slide, as shown in Figure 4.

- For now, don't forget to save your presentation.
Note that the procedure to insert a picture explained above will not retain any relation between the picture in your folder and the picture on your slide. The picture on your slide is an independent copy that is contained within the presentation. If you use PowerPoint Online extensively, you will want to get more templatesand Themes for PowerPoint. But did you know that Microsoft makes it quite easy for you to get these templates and Themes fromwithin PowerPoint Online? Further, there's no way to save and use these templates and Themes from within PowerPoint Online withoutdownloading and uploading them on your own! We will explore how you can use these scenarios to your advantage in this article.
Everything Looks Different?
Unlike desktop applications, both OneDriveand PowerPoint Online are constantly evolving much faster. That may explain why screenshots on this page sport an interface different from what you see when you log in.There are two ways to get more Templates within PowerPoint Online:
- Open the Presentation Gallery andclick the See more templates link, highlighted in red within Figure 1.

Either of the above ways will open the Templates page on Office.com, as shownin Figure 3.

As marked in Figure 3, above, you can search for the templates in 3 major criteria, that are explained below:
A. Favorites By App
Click to see three more options: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as shownin Figure 3 above. Excel option will provide you with templates for Excel only. Similarly,the PowerPoint and Word options will provide you with templates for PowerPoint and Word only. Youjust need to click on the required template to download it.
B. Category
Click to open a list of various categories as shown in Figure 4. Use the scrollbar to see more categories.

Click on any category to bring up templates for that category. In Figure 5 you can see that we have selectedthe Winter category, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 5 and onthe right side of Figure 5 you can see the templates for Winter category. Use the scrollbar towardsthe right of the templates to access more templates within the selected category. Look at the bottom right corner of every Templatethumbnail to see the name of the App for which the template has been made, as shown highlighted in bluewithin Figure 5.

C. Events And Occasions
Click to open a list of various events and occasions as shown in Figure 6. Use the scrollbar to see more events.Just click on the required event to bring up templates related to that event.

Search for the required template and just click on it. This will open a window with some information about the template beingdownloaded, as shown in Figure 7. Click the Download button to download the template to your localdrive. If you downloaded a PowerPoint template, you will need to open it in a desktop version of PowerPoint. Then save the templatefile (POTX) as a normal PowerPoint file (PPTX). Then you can upload this PPTX file to OneDrive, as explained inour Uploading PowerPoint File toOneDrive tutorial. You can similarly upload any template, including the ones you download from another template site.
